Resthaven purchased a property at 100 Hub Drive, Aberfoyle Park. Development of the property was subject to successful funding outcomes in the Aged Care Approvals Round, which did not occur for some years.
Resthaven received approval for 100 new residential places, allowing for a new residential aged care home to be developed on the land at Aberfoyle Park.

Having investigated the Government’s figures on predicted population trends, Resthaven embarked on the planning and construction of a new residential care facility at Aberfoyle Park.

Plans were lodged with the City of Onkaparinga for the residential aged care home in Aberfoyle Park, which were approved in September 2016. Demolition and earthworks began in December 2016.

On 8 March 2017, the ‘Turn the Turf’ ceremony was held at the future site of Resthaven Aberfoyle Park. Board President, Mark Porter, turned the first sod of the planned $30 million, 100-place facility. The foundations were poured later in the year.
Resthaven’s twelfth residential service at Aberfoyle Park was completed in June 2018.
An opportunity for the local community to visit and look around, Resthaven Aberfoyle Park opened to the public on 12 July 2018, with three types of residential rooms set up for visitors to view. Operations commenced four days later.

On 12 October 2018, the official opening and dedication of Resthaven Aberfoyle Park was by Rev. Sue Ellis, Moderator of the Uniting Church in South Australia. The celebration culminated in the unveiling of a plaque to mark the occasion and a special prayer for the new home.

The installation of the metal sculpture, Hikers, by Adelaide artist Gerry McMahon, was a welcome addition to the site's front garden. The sculpture shows a grandmother and child. In the right hand of the grandmother is a camera—symbolising memory and nostalgia; and in the left hand of the child is a compass—a metaphor for direction and future.

On 4 October 2018, the home celebrated one year of operation with a morning tea and afternoon concert. Staff and residents dressed in outfits from their favourite era.

Providing meaningful purpose and excitement amongst residents, the home's 'Knitting for the Homeless' initiative began in late 2019. Led by the Lifestyle Coordinator and volunteers, residents knitted blankets and beanies for homeless people in Adelaide, with the group personally delivering boxes of the knitted goods when possible.

In December 2020, the home celebrated Resthaven’s 85th anniversary with a day of nostalgia.

On 20 July 2023, Resthaven Aberfoyle Park held a celebration to mark its fifth anniversary. Around 100 guests attended the festivities, including Board President Mark Porter, CEO Darren Birbeck, and Executive Managers Tina Cooper, Mel Ottaway, and David Norton.

Working with CME, Suntrix, and sustainability consultant Dsquared Consulting, Resthaven completed the installation of a 120kW rooftop solar PV system at Resthaven Aberfoyle Park in May 2024. The system was part of a Resthaven-wide solar project, which reduced carbon emissions by 9% across the organisation.

On 25 February 2025, around 60 residents and invited guests came together at the home to celebrate the ‘Gatsby’ themed event for Resthaven's 90th anniversary. The day featured a musical performance from the local high school students, and a dance performance. For a historical tribute, classic vehicles were on display and a few staff dressed as ‘matrons’ for the day!
