In April 1935, gifts were received for the home and the project gained momentum. However, even at this early stage of the venture, Rev. John Pearce noted the home's limitations. Judging by the number of applications received, there was a need for more accommodation: ‘Larger premises [will meet] an urge which will be intensified as the months go by.’
