Ongoing fundraising needed

In the years following the purchase of Shirley Gardens, multiple schemes were put forward to assist in eliminating the Conference’s debt of something like £1,700. Rev. Charles Schafer visited Ladies Guilds in churches so that the story and the need could be made known.

‘Busy Bees’ were held at the home to beautify the grounds and to assist in publicising the venture. A ‘Gift Week’ was inaugurated throughout the Church to specifically aid Resthaven and was soon called ‘the longest week on record’ as people were urged to keep giving.
