In October 1971, details about the development at Resthaven Marion were published in The Advertiser, in local papers and in the Central Times, the new Methodist paper. A published brochure explained the reason for the development and also depicted the architect’s plans:
'Despite the efforts being made by the different Churches and some organisations outside the Churches, the need for Homes for the Aged is still far short of meeting the requirements. Faced with a mounting number of applications for accommodation, the Resthaven Board has undertaken this new commitment at Marion – South Australia.'
'The nation is growing more aware of its responsibility in its attitude towards the aged members of its population, but a great deal more remains to be done as funds become available.'
'The need to fulfil this responsibility in providing security and care for more people is the reason for this new Home. If you are in need of this security and care and can donate a portion of the capital cost for the building of units and amenities, then contact “Resthaven Methodist Homes for the Aged Inc.,” Epworth Building, Pirie Street, Adelaide.'
