Despite delays and disappointments, Administrator Guthrie Hutchinson reported on the progress of Resthaven Marion in 1974 with a sense of relief:
'The occupation of the Home should be an accomplished fact by the time this report goes to press. Those of you who have experienced the difficulties associated with building operations will know something of the hopes and despairs with which the history of Marion has been punctuated.'
'Due to circumstances over which we have had no control, the Home is about a year behind schedule, and this means a year in which we have experienced spiralling costs.'
'But now we have added a fifth home to the Resthaven complex, and the opening and dedication will take place sometime after the Home is occupied.'
