Resthaven Marion officially opened

On 13 April 1975, former Administrator Rev. Guthrie Hutchinson officially opened Resthaven Marion. Despite the opening being an emotional, gratifying event, the Board was faced with troublesome times. Inflation was rampant and the public, generally, were perturbed at the state of the economy.

Eight days after the opening, Resthaven Administrator Rev. Keith Wiseman wrote to all residents informing them that:

Because of the ‘large increase in wages granted to staff and the steeply rising cost of all commodities … [and] this inflationary trend … with great reluctance the Board [had] decided that all board [would] be increased by $3 per person per week’.
