Resthaven grows at Paradise

Years after the land was bought at Paradise, construction was finally underway in 1978.

With the building developed and completed at the end of 1979, Resthaven Paradise featured a 98-bed hostel (across six separate lodges) and 40-bed nursing home. Covering 10 acres, the home benefitted from extensive garden and lawn areas.

Residents first moved into the home in the early months of 1980, and in August of that year, the first Matron, B. Datugan, reported:

‘The first months at Resthaven Paradise had been taken up with just getting there, and the following months had been settling in’.

From 1982, a Day Therapy centre was centrally located onsite, providing opportunities for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry and nursing treatments and enabling the quality of life for those living in their own homes.

Moreover, two staff flats were later made available as independent living units.
