Resthaven, then operating as ‘Resthaven Methodist Homes for the Aged Incorporated’ applied for a formal change of name, to ‘Resthaven Incorporated’, on 20 August 1985. This was approved by the Corporate Affairs Commission on 4 October 1985.

Before this final name change, the organisation had gone through a number of names over the years:

• Resthaven Methodist Home for Old Folk
• Resthaven Methodist Home for Aged Women
• Resthaven Methodist Home for the Aged Incorporated
• Resthaven Methodist Homes for the Aged Incorporated
