Additional facilities at Murray Bridge

The $1.2 million building program at Murray Bridge commenced at the end of January 1991.

It included the development of a new six-unit special care wing for those with dementia, to be named the ‘Elva Harrip Wing’ in recognition of the long and dedicated service given by Miss Harrip over many years. This came after Resthaven recognised the need for specialised services to support people living with dementia. In 1989, the dementia care wing was approved by local government.

The development also included a hairdressing salon, bathroom, four hostel units, and an overnight staff carer’s unit. The Talbot Wing and Jenkin House received major upgrading of units including ensuite bathrooms and larger units together with a small lounge being added to the Jenkin Wing.
