Chairman and ex-Deputy Administrator Ivon Wardle retired from the board in December 1991. He retired after completing the maximum term of nine years —joining the board in 1983 after serving the organisation previously as an employee.
Upon Ivon’s retirement, as a token of appreciation for his long and dedicated service to Resthaven over thirty years, a decision was made to name the new communal hall at Leabrook ‘The Ivon Wardle Hall’. It was dedicated in May 1992.
Allen Shakespeare was appointed the new Chairman, and Ron Crettenden was appointed Deputy Chairman. Unfortunately, Allen was forced to retire after just a few months due to ill health, so Ron Crettenden was elected in his place.
