In March 1994, Resthaven was a major sponsor of the Uniting Church National Aged Care Conference. With the conference held in Adelaide, the last day of the conference was hosted at Malvern Uniting Church, with significant involvement by Resthaven. The neighbouring Malvern Day Therapy Centre was open for inspection, with many people taking the opportunity to have a look through the venue.
In reflecting at this time, it was noted that there was a growing number of people serving Resthaven in the capacity of Chaplain's Assistant, allowing development of pastoral skills and sensitivity to elderly residents. Furthermore, these same people were often linked with local parishes and congregations, affirming Resthaven’s positioning as very much a part of the Uniting Church.
To have the support of assistants allows the Chaplain a certain amount of flexibility, taking over groups and services of worship when they are required to be elsewhere.
