The new accreditation requirement was a key aspect of the Aged Care Act 1997. Accreditation commenced during the year and involved the assessment of 3,000 aged care facilities nationwide.
Resthaven’s excellent results acknowledged the high care standards offered to residents. However, the process itself incurred considerable expense, with the accreditation application fee alone costing Resthaven around $120,000, and many other thousands of dollars required to prepare and complete the required application.
Feedback from staff following the accreditation led to the development of a Corporate Priority Action Work Plan to augment the Site Priority Action Work Plans.
