Innovative volunteer program recognised

In May, at a reception at Government House to celebrate National Volunteers Week, Resthaven was announced as the winner the Innovative Volunteer Management Award, for the restructured coordination of the School for Seniors Program at Westbourne Park.

The award increased the awareness of Resthaven’s volunteer program, and by late 2000, some 400 volunteers were contributing in many ways to the life of Resthaven. These volunteers cared for the personal needs of residents, visited Community Services clients, participated in palliative care courses, drove the Resthaven bus, and helped with the therapeutic needs of stroke victims.
