Community services achieves accreditation

Resthaven Community Services achieved its first voluntary external accreditation for three years in accordance with Quality Improvement Council Standards and HACC National Service Standards. The accreditation came around the same time as significant growth in both the size and diversity of Resthaven’s community services lead to changes in services and initiatives.

The ageing of the population, increased funding from governments and Resthaven's desire to offer older people a range of service options to meet their needs, meant that Resthaven had invested time in understanding the changing trends in the client profile. Increasingly, clients were more likely to be living alone, with the involvement of carer or significant other, but from a distance. Clients also had increased levels of frailty, plus mental health concerns.

Resthaven collaborated with other agencies and organisations to develop new initiatives that responded effectively to complex needs which often extended beyond the scope of one single program.
