Handover at Mitcham

The $10.8 million redevelopment at Resthaven Mitcham included a new 15-bed secure dementia unit, 59 low-care beds and 47 high-care beds, and a new entrance to the site.

With the completion and handover in June 2006, residents moved into the home the following month.

Senator Santo Santoro, Minister for Aged Care, officially opened the redevelopment on 29 August 2006, nearly fifty years after the first stage of Mitcham was opened to residents.

“Residents, staff and carers have been most tolerant during this three-year project, and now enjoy a marvellous living and working environment.” – Chris Headland, Executive Manager Residential Services.
