On 11 July 2007, Dr Andrew Southcott, Member for Boothby, formally opened the $3.2 million self-funded extension to Resthaven Bellevue Heights.
The addition of a new wing for 18 high-care residential aged care places was made possible by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. The project also included a new meeting facility for independent living residents, called Gum Tree Lodge, and improved administration areas.
CEO, Richard Hearn, said, ‘We are delighted with the new wing, as we have been looking at ways to provide more assistance to people who prefer to live in the hills, as well as offering employment opportunities for local people, in both paid and voluntary capacities.’
