At Resthaven, workforce remained a key area of consideration as the ageing population increased the demand for services.
There was a shortage of nurses, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to secure personal carers, home support workers, and other indirect care staff. Richard Hearn, CEO, said:
“Our advocacy to Government remains focused on ensuring that employers can be competitive with wage outcomes, the limitations of the current indexation system, increased training of nurses and other key direct care staff roles, reduction in regulatory and paperwork requirements, the need for flexible service delivery models and regulation that finds more creative options to ensure standards of care are achieved.”
Various initiatives were implemented, including giving all staff access to salary sacrifice benefits. Retention strategies continued to be an important consideration.
