Eyes on Mount Gambier

After being awarded 60 residential aged care places to establish a facility in an area of high need in September 2008, Resthaven announced its plans to build a new state-of-the-art residential aged care home in Mount Gambier. Subsequently, a section of land adjacent to the St Andrews Uniting Church at Elizabeth Street was purchased.

St Andrews Uniting Church
“As Resthaven is an aged care community service of the Uniting Church, we believe that the proposed development will be a very appropriate use of the land adjoining the Uniting Church. We have been warmly welcomed by the local church congregations, who rightly see us as complementing the existing very good services available in the region.” — Richard Hearn, CEO.

The new facility is a result of the initial stage allocation of aged care places, with a special allocation of places in areas of high need awarded in September 2008. The new home was set to complement Resthaven’s existing community services in the southeast, managed from offices at Naracoorte and Millicent.
