The introduction of 'eBusiness' by the Australian Government led Resthaven to grow the computer network to support the expanding organisation. Resthaven launched an intranet in 2009 for staff to access corporate information and utilise the electronic transmission of data rather than sending documents by post or facsimile. Application documents were revised and downloadable forms added to the website for consumers.
Another ICT project underway addressed an element of the Business Continuity Plan — providing ‘disaster recovery’ options in the event of an ICT failure. This complemented an undertaking in September the previous year, in which a new system was introduced to monitor incoming email traffic with the purpose of quarantining ‘bad’ communications.
