In late 2012, Resthaven hosted visitors from Thailand: Mr Arnop Chirakiti, his wife, and his sister. Located on the outskirts of Bangkok, they were beginning to establish Baan Sudthavas (BSV), a family funded, 135-bed charitable facility for destitute, elderly women, operating without government subsidies.
Reminiscent of Resthaven’s origins in the early 1930s, a connection developed. During their visit, Resthaven shared information about its systems, and Resthaven’s Executive Manager Workforce Development and Governance travelled to Thailand to assisted them with the set up.
The partnership continued, with shared presentations at a conference in 2017 and a pen pal program established between Baan Sudthavas and Resthaven Malvern residents. In 2023, the partnership celebrated ten years.
