After learning that Resthaven was looking for a new site to house its head office, Chairman of Annesley College, Bruce Spangler, approached Resthaven at the end of 2011 to ascertain interest in purchasing some of their land on Greenhill Road, at Wayville, which housed its senior school. The school, which was affiliated with the Uniting Church, was in financial difficulties and wanting to reduce the size of its student body to a smaller group with a primary school focus.
Resthaven assessed the site’s value and made an offer that was accepted without hesitation. According to Richard Hearn, it was ‘absolutely a good decision.’ In addition, Mark Porter believed that it was ‘a wonderful opportunity to bring people in the organisation together’. Mark also noted it was a return to an historical precinct with strong links to the Methodist and Uniting Churches. In effect, it was a recognition of the shared heritage of Resthaven and the church. The land was purchased in March 2012, with construction commencing in August 2014.
