2013

Strategic collaboration

With a partnership with the University of Adelaide, Resthaven established two government-supported learning hubs at Resthaven Mitcham (for nursing students) and Resthaven Paradise (for medical students).

The University of Adelaide’s G-TRAC (Geriatrics Training and Research in Aged Care) centre was officially launched on 27 February 2013 at Resthaven Paradise. The centre offered medical students and health professionals the opportunity to work with older people to extend their knowledge, capacity and skills. It also improved the health and wellbeing of participants and promoted positive and healthy approaches to ageing.

In mid-2013, the G-TRAC centre offered a seminar series for aged care and primary care professionals, including Resthaven employees. The series focused on a broad range of topics, including dementia, healthy ageing, nutrition, physical activity, pain management, consumer-directed care, oral health, medications, spirituality, and continence.
