Celebrations with a twist

In February 2020, Resthaven staff were invited to a special celebration to launch Resthaven’s 85th anniversary at the Head Office building in Wayville.

As the cake was cut, the opportunity was taken to share some surprising news: CEO Richard Hearn announced that he intended to retire in May of that year.

For 27 years, Richard served as Resthaven’s CEO. When asked why he had remained with the organisation for a long time, he responded, ‘I have always desired to work in an environment with a purpose that involves making a positive difference for people’.

Commenting on Richard’s service to Resthaven, Board President Mark Porter said:

‘Richard epitomises everything that is good about Resthaven: A genuine concern for the health and welfare of the frail, the elderly and the vulnerable; a deep knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Resthaven’s core values; acumen and attention to detail; determination; and the capacity to lead as well as manage a team of highly capable staff.’
