In March 2021, consultants from a company called D2 (D-Squared) undertook the process of gathering data to establish Resthaven’s carbon footprint. The data enabled Resthaven to form a detailed strategy to substantially reduce its carbon footprint.
The project encompassed residential, community and corporate sites. Environmentally friendly practices including the use of solar panels, reticulated water for gardens, and energy efficient lighting were all considered. Recycling management and waste minimisation strategies were standardised across every location. In line with the strategy, all new buildings, developments and refurbishments were set to incorporate environmentally friendly design and work to improve the environmental impact of existing buildings.
