‘A memorable day’

On 4 March 1950, the foundation stone of the Mortimer Wing at Resthaven Leabrook was laid. It was announced the wing would accommodate a further 21 women, in addition to the 21 women who already resided at the home.

The ceremony was yet another great occasion, ‘a memorable day’, and a giant step for the dreams of the founders of Resthaven.

Proceeds of a 'conference garden party' after the ceremony were put towards the new wing building fund.
