The 1956 Report to District Synod by Resthaven recorded the opening of the new 'Tregilgas Wing' at Resthaven Malvern, dedicated to Methodist Minister Rev. Eric Tregilgas in recognition of his 'sterling service' given to Resthaven. From that point onwards, Resthaven Malvern could house 28 residents.
Resthaven Leabrook had 52 residents, including 15 in a ‘hospital’ section. So inadequate was this allocation of space ‘for the long waiting list of chronic cases so urgently in need’, that the Board proposed to provide an infirmary with a further 20 beds. Moreover, there were over 200 people on Resthaven’s waiting lists.
